An entire city with the highest buildings in the world almost disappears under a thick cloud of fog stretching some 70 storeys up.Twice a year, Dubai's iconic skyline is transformed as a huge fog descends.Photographer Nicole Luttecke, 34, took these striking images of the natural phenomenon covering even the 2,700ft Burj Khalifa skyscraper.Miss Luttecke said the views from her 37th floor flat and a 77th floor penthouse in the 328 metre tall Index Tower were 'amazing'.She said: 'The fog happens early in the morning twice a year, when the weather is changing from cold to hot and hot to cold.'Sometimes I can see the fog over the skyline but on other days in the 37th floor I am totally in the fog and upstairs at 77th I am looking at it from above.'But it depends very much on the wind - even on the roof top you can find yourself standing in the middle of the fog.'I was amazed by the sheer expanse of fog. I didn't know things like this could happen and always thought awesome pictures of it were fake.'This time there was only one really thick fog day.'Often I'll wake up excited at 4.30am, look out and think, OK, it can happen today, and get my camera out.'But most of the time it only comes out like a hazy, foggy morning. When it happens for real, the fog is everywhere.'It's beautiful but sometimes a lot of accidents happen.'Miss Luttecke, from Munster, Germany, said her favourite photograph is of the Sheikh Zayed Road. She said: 'I like that my images are unique. Everybody could take them, but the most difficult part is getting access to the buildings at the perfect time.'Most of the city is sleeping while I take these pictures.'The Burj Khalifa is a 15-minute walk from the Index Tower, in the Dubai International Financial Center.(dailymail.co.uk)ANN.Az
