Ecology Ministry on weather in Azerbaijan

The speed of the north-west wind in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula in the morning of January 17 in some places reached 30-35 metres per second, the operational headquarters of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources informs.

It is noted that the height of the waves in the area of the Guneshli offshore oil filed reached 4.8 metres.

Precipitation is currently observed in the regions of Azerbaijan and in Baku. The air temperature in the capital and Absheron is 4-5 degrees Celsius.

As reported on the eve by the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology, on January 17-18, the speed of the north-west wind will increase to 20-25 m/s, sometimes to 30-35 m/s, in the open sea to 38-40 m/s. The height of the waves in the sea is expected at 3-5 metres, then 6-8 metres or more.
