Azerbaijan's gas extraction up by 2.5%

A total of 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced in Azerbaijan in the first eight months of 2024, marking an increase of 2.5% or 0.8 million cubic meters year-on-year, reported from the Energy Ministry of Azerbaijan.

Between January-August 2024, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) produced 5.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas, representing a 12.1% or 0.7 billion cubic meters drop compared to the same period last year.

Of the total volume, 8.7 billion cubic meters were produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field block, 18.1 billion cubic meters from the Shah Deniz field, and 1.1 billion cubic meters from the Absheron field.

Compared to the initial eight months of 2023, gas production in ACG grew by 1.2% or 0.1 billion cubic meters and in the Shah Deniz field, it rose by 2.8% or 0.5 billion cubic meters.
