Global oil prices rise slightly

Oil prices rose slowly after declining the previous day following data showing increased reserves in the US for the third consecutive week.

January Brent futures rose on the London ICE Futures exchange by 0.17 (0.23%), to $72.98 per barrel.

January WTI futures increased on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) electronic trading by $0.15 (0.22%), to $68.9 per barrel.

Commercial oil reserves in the country increased by 545,000 barrels last week to 430.29 million barrels, according to the US Department of Energy.

Gasoline inventories increased by 2.05 million barrels, while distillate stocks decreased by 114,000 barrels.
