Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli oil output averages 331,000 bpd in Q1

Average daily oil production at Azerbaijan’s Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli (ACG) oilfield reached 331,000 barrels per day (bpd) in the first quarter of 2025, with total quarterly output standing at 30 million barrels, or around 4 million tonnes, BP said in its quarterly report.

The production came from the following platforms: Chirag (21,000 bpd), Central Azeri (87,000), West Azeri (76,000), East Azeri (43,000), Deepwater Gunashli (54,000), West Chirag (25,000) and ACE (25,000).

Operational expenditure for the quarter totaled $115 million, while capital expenditures reached $251 million.

As of the end of Q1, the ACG block had 145 producing wells, 44 water injectors, and 8 gas injectors in operation.

Preparations continued during the quarter for the second year of a five-year high-resolution 4D seismic survey. Data acquisition is scheduled to begin in May, while processing of 2024 data is ongoing.

February 18 marked the 20th anniversary of first oil from the Central Azeri platform. Since then, the platform has produced a total of 1.1 billion barrels (152 million tonnes) of oil.

BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Limited is the operator of the ACG Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) on behalf of the contractor parties.
