Russian air defenses shot down 19 drones over Moscow overnight, marking the second consecutive night of attempted strikes on the capital, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Tuesday.

One of the downed drones crashed near Kashirskoye Highway, with no reported injuries or serious damage. Independent Telegram channels said debris struck a residential building near Kashirskaya metro station, where an explosion reportedly shattered windows on upper floors and in a nearby flower shop.

Russia’s aviation authority imposed temporary flight restrictions at major Moscow airports — Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky — as well as in regional airports across Kaluga, Volgograd, Samara, Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, Ivanovo, and Yaroslavl. The restrictions were lifted after several hours.

Separately, at least 18 drones were downed over Voronezh region and 10 over Penza region, local governors said. The drones were allegedly Ukrainian, though Kyiv has not commented. Officials reported no casualties and only minor damage, mostly broken windows.

Sobyanin had also reported a drone attack the previous night, during which four UAVs were shot down near Podolsk, south of Moscow. No damage or injuries were reported.
