Russia and Azerbaijan to hold economic commission meeting in Astrakhan

Russia and Azerbaijan will hold the 23rd meeting of their intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Astrakhan on Friday, officials said.
Ahead of the session, members of the Azerbaijani delegation laid flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, Astrakhan region governor Igor Babushkin and the ambassadors of the two countries attended the ceremony.
Babushkin met Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Rakhman Mustafayev to discuss expanding cooperation. He said in a post on Telegram that fish exports to Azerbaijan had risen 5% in the first half of the year, with vegetable and flour supplies also growing.
Babushkin said the region aimed to boost trade through improved transport links and to deepen cultural ties and joint projects with Azerbaijan.
