Azerbaijan prepares roadmap for AI application in agricultural sector

Together with international partners, we are already developing a two-year digital and artificial intelligence roadmap, said Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov on the third day of the Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025)
He noted that the roadmap includes more than 30 practical use cases: “The roadmap covers areas ranging from crop diversity mapping and soil monitoring to yield prediction and water-saving irrigation. Pilot projects are already being implemented and will soon be scaled nationwide. These data-driven tools will help our farmers make smarter decisions, strengthen sustainability, and generate significant economic value over the years.”
He emphasized that smart agriculture must go hand in hand with the sustainable management of water and soil:
“We understand that modernizing irrigation is of vital importance. That is why, in our semi-arid country, we are investing in climate-resilient water systems that preserve every drop of water. Likewise, as will be discussed in today’s program, transport and smart city development must complement these efforts by reducing emissions and building greener, more efficient supply chains.”
