John DiPirro: Implementing the TRIPP route is essential
The implementation of the TRIPP route is crucial for regional stability and strategic cooperation, said John DiPirro, Senior Research Fellow at the Central Asia–Caucasus Institute, speaking at the “Shared Vision: Azerbaijan–US Dialogue for Strategic Partnership” session during the First Azerbaijan–US Think Tanks Forum in Baku on November 18.
He noted that the South Caucasus serves as a strategic bridge between Europe and Asia, and that Azerbaijan is becoming an increasingly important player globally.
“US interests remain stable and highly relevant in the South Caucasus. In this context, the implementation of the TRIPP route is essential,” DiPirro said.
He also stressed the importance of normalizing relations between Armenia and Türkiye, adding that conditions are favorable for a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
DiPirro stated that the United States has allocated $145 million for the TRIPP project and established working groups with both Azerbaijan and Armenia, which he said demonstrates Washington’s commitment to advancing the initiative.
