Vusal Gasimli: “Azerbaijan must choose the right model for scientific development.”
Azerbaijan needs a properly designed model and broader use of international experience to ensure sustainable scientific development. This was stated by Vusal Gasimli, Head of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, during a roundtable on challenges in science and education.
Gasimli stressed that scientific advancement should be built on strong cooperation between the state and the private sector.
“We must decide which model we want to adopt for the development of science. Engaging universities and introducing state-funded research orders can significantly accelerate progress. Israel is a successful example of such a model,” he said.
He noted that the innovation ecosystems of the US and China, as well as their strong university integration, offer practical lessons for Azerbaijan.
According to Gasimli, Azerbaijan’s substantial intellectual and economic potential requires a structured and systemic approach within the scientific environment.
