U.S. president signs $901 bln defence budget for 2026
U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a record $901 billion defence budget for the 2026 fiscal year, the White House said.
In a statement, Trump said the legislation would allow the Department of Defense to implement his “peace through strength” policy, protect the country from domestic and foreign threats and strengthen the defence industrial base.
The nearly 3,000-page bill includes a 4% pay rise for service members, faster weapons procurement for the Pentagon, construction of the “Golden Dome” missile defence system and measures to improve military readiness.
The legislation also provides $400 million in support for Ukraine in 2026 and 2027.
