Azerbaijan begins importing beef from Canada
Azerbaijan imported 9,708 tonnes of beef, including fresh, chilled and frozen meat, worth $39.8 million in January–October, according to data from the State Statistics Committee.
Based on the data, the value of imports rose by 2% year on year, while volumes fell by 0.3%.
During the period, imports from Ukraine amounted to 5,125 tonnes worth $23.2 million, down 7% in value and 10% in volume. Imports from Brazil rose to $7.7 million, up 27% year on year, with volumes increasing 22% to 2,482 tonnes. Supplies from Belarus increased to $4.7 million (+18%) and 1,052 tonnes (+3%), while imports from India climbed to $3 million (+43%) and 920 tonnes (+33%).
Imports from Russia fell to $521,000 and 78.1 tonnes, representing declines of 43% in value and 48% in volume.
For the first time in the past 14 years, Azerbaijan also imported beef from Canada, with shipments totalling 0.03 tonnes worth $600.
In 2024, Ukraine accounted for 59% of the 12,000 tonnes of beef imported by Azerbaijan.
