Oil production halted at Kazakhstan’s largest field after power system issues
Kazakhstan oil producer Tengizchevroil has temporarily halted oil production at the Tengiz field, the country’s largest, and at the Korolevskoye field due to problems with electricity distribution systems.
The company said the decision was taken as a precaution after issues were identified affecting certain elements of power distribution at production facilities.
Tengizchevroil added that no injuries were reported and technical teams are currently investigating the cause of the malfunction.
Earlier reports said a transformer fire had occurred at the Tengiz field on Sunday, but it was quickly extinguished and operations continued at the time.
