This iPhone prank could land you in serious trouble

Speaking the words 9/11 into Siri could end up in a call from the cops.

It seems that searching for the New York terror attack on Apple's iPhone will automatically put a call in to the US emergency services.

When you say 9/11, Siri replies, 'Calling the emergency services in five seconds' and if you don't cancel the call quickly your iPhone will dial the number.

Now an alarming prank is circulating on Twitter with the message 'When you say 9/11 to Siri, her response is hilarious.'

Many iPhone users are being duped into to saying the phrase and the US police aren't happy.

Last weekend one police station in Regina, Saskatchewan, reported hundreds of dud 911 calls.

One of the issues being face by police is when you place a 911 call, the emergency services follow a protocol that means they'll always get in touch even if you hang up the phone.

This is placing a huge strain on services and means life-saving calls may not get through.
