President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin might discuss the results of the grain deal negotiations in Istanbul by phone, if such a need arises, a source in Ankara told TASS.

There is such a possibility because, as you know, President Erdogan and President Putin often have telephone conversations when necessary. The grain deal is very important, so they can discuss the outcome [of the talks in Istanbul], the source said, but refused to comment on the progress of the negotiations and their possible results, suggesting to wait for the end.

On Thursday, Istanbul will host the second day of negotiations between representatives of Russia, Ukraine, Türkiye and the UN, dedicated to the extension of the grain deal and the start of implementation of the Russian part of the agreement. The UN is represented at the level of Deputy Secretary General Martin Griffiths. The talks are held in different formats - trilateral, quadrilateral, and bilateral.
