Erdogan: Turkish people - winners of election marathon

The democracy and the Turkish people are winners of the election marathon in Türkiye, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a meeting of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) in Ankara on May 30, reported from Anadolu Agency.

The head of state expressed gratitude to all citizens who took an active part in the May elections.

"I consider every citizen who believes in the national will and future of Türkiye, everyone who calls himself a part of this land, to be the undisputed winner of the elections... Attempts to influence Türkiye’s course through the use of terrorist groups have failed!” he said.

Erdogan assured that the authorities will make every effort to develop a common strategy to eliminate problems in Türkiye.

The head of state drew attention to the achievements of Türkiye in recent decades.

"All these years, the Turkish economy has grown by an average of 5.5% per year. Türkiye’s GDP has grown from $236 billion to $1 trillion. Türkiye’s per capita income has grown from $3,600 to $10,650. Exports have increased from $36 billion to $255 billion, and the flow of tourists from $12.8 million to $51.5 million,” Erdogan said.

Referring to geopolitical processes, as well as their impact on the region where Türkiye is located, Erdogan said that ‘the goal is to form a belt of security and peace from Europe to the Black Sea, from the Caucasus to the Middle East.’

He also noted that Türkiye will also continue active mediation efforts to resolve the conflict around Ukraine.
