EU extends personal sanctions against Iran over human rights violations

EU extends personal sanctions against Iran over human rights violations
15.09.2023 18:00
The European Union has expanded personal restrictions against Iran as part of the sanctions regime for alleged human rights violations in this country, reported from EU's official magazine.

Six organizations and four individuals were new to the sanctions list. In particular, prisons in different parts of Iran, as well as high-ranking representatives of security forces in this country, were sanctioned.

The EU, Great Britain, the USA, as well as a number of other countries have previously repeatedly accused Iran of violating human rights and, in connection with these accusations, imposed sanctions against the country.

New EU sanctions against Iran date to the anniversary of the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini on September 16, 2022, that sparked unrest in the Islamic republic.
