The European Union (EU) will spend 45 million euros on the modernization of the subway in Kharkiv, Ukraine, and related infrastructure. The funds will be allocated from the budget of the European Investment Bank, reported from the tender documents for the selection of a contractor.

As part of the modernization, it is planned to purchase five-car metro trains and spare parts, and conduct training for the staff.
