Eurostat confirmed that consumer inflation in the 19 countries sharing the euro rose 1.5% month-on-month in October, for a 10.6% year-on-year increase, a revision from the 10.7% annual reading reported previously.
It is specified that last month the cost of energy increased more than other goods (+4.4%). The increase in the price of food, alcohol and tobacco amounted to 2.74%.
The price hike was the lowest in France where the inflation made 7.1%, in Spain, where the prices rose by 7.3% on average. Malta saw inflation at 7.4%. It is noted that the statistical office increased the figure by 0.1% relative to the preliminary results of the month.
