Baku Shooting Centre will have a family feel to it when Irada Ashumova competes in the European Games mixed team 10m air pistol alongside her son Ruslan Lunev -- and with her husband Vladimir as their coach.
Ashumova will compete in three events in the Azeri capital including the women's 10m and 25m air pistol though it is the second week of competition, alongside her 25-year-old son, which she is most excited about.
"We are really excited as a family because I will compete with my son. Ruslan is in good shape," Ashumova told reporters. "His dad is our coach and he really believes in him.
"We call Ruslan the 'unlucky-point man', as he lost a medal in previous competitions just by a point. Not two or three. Just one point. But hopefully here we will get some good results as a family."
Lunev, who will also compete in the 25m rapid fire pistol and the 10m air pistol, said he hoped he would overcome the family jibes and fulfil his parents' expectations.
"I am so excited and nervous about this competition. I feel the pressure as I will compete with my mother for the first time ever, and also because my family is waiting for some success from my side," he told reporters.
