Expert: Georgia supports Azerbaijan in energy supplies

In the current geopolitical situation and due to the energy crisis in Europe, Azerbaijan may become one of the countries that will occupy a certain niche in energy supplies to the EU, primarily gas, Georgian political scientist Archil Sikharulidze told Report.
Georgia, in turn, will support Azerbaijan in the maximum implementation of existing and planned projects, he said.

"Tbilisi is very interested in this, because the country has always been positioned as a transit territory. Additionally, it is ideologically important for Georgia to help Europe get out of the energy crisis," the political scientist said.

He said the sphere of energy security is the main area of cooperation that needs to be further promoted, adding that, based on the statement of President Ilham Aliyev, measures have also been taken in Azerbaijan to this end.

In addition, Sikharulidze stressed that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia is already at a high level, but now partnership relations can be taken to a new level for Georgia.

"Georgia wants to help Europe in the issue of energy security in order to facilitate its path to the EU. Azerbaijan, with its oil and gas supplies to the EU, can contribute to this," Sikharulidze said.
