Turkiye has played a significant role in mitigating the consequences of the war in Ukraine: the opening of the grain corridor has reduced world food shortages, official Ankara also facilitates the exchange of prisoners between the two sides, head of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies Ahmet Uysal said.

"Turkiye is still trying for a humanitarian ceasefire between the parties. But this is a complex process, and the humanitarian corridor issue requires strong political will. Turkiye is ready to contribute to the implementation of this project,” he said.

According to him, both Russia and Ukraine trust Turkiye because it opposes war as a peace supporter: "Moreover, official Ankara treats both sides honestly and as a friendly neighbor.”

"President Recep Tayyip Erdogan showed that he is capable of frank and open dialogue with both Moscow and Kyiv,” Uysal said.
