He noted that Russian troops protect Armenia’s borders.
"On the matter of controlling the road that will connect other territories of Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan, only Armenia is stubborn, and this position was also recommended to them by the West," said Shafiyev.
The chairman of the center said that after Azerbaijan discussed the road issue with Iran, they proposed the crossroads of peace because they thought they would be isolated:
"Whoever Armenia entrusts control over its territory, that force should be acceptable for us. For example, if France is the controlling force, we will hardly accept it."
Shafiyev said this is more of a Russia-Armenia issue than an Azerbaijan-Armenia issue.
"We have no territorial claims to Zangazur. If a peace agreement is signed and territorial integrity is recognized, it will only be determined who owns the territories. Here, the drawing up of the map will be decided by the Commission."
