Five highlights to look out for on 16 June at Baku 2015 European Games

Gunning for gold

Shooting, 11:25

Shooting starts with a bang on Tuesday, featuring three medal events and a cast of international champions that demonstrate its status as one of the highest-standard sports at Baku 2015. No event will be more fiercely contested than the women’s trap - London 2012 gold medallist Jessica Rossi of Italy and Finland’s Satu Makela-Nummela, the Beijing 2008 winner and current world no.1, will face Germany’s world champion Katrin Quoos.

Golden goal

Boxing, 19:00

Premier League football fans, not just boxing fans, will want to keep a close eye on Crystal Hall 2 when the bell rings in the boxing competition. Stepping onto the canvas in the 75kg category will be a British middleweight medal hope with a familiar surname: Antony Fowler is the cousin of former Liverpool FC goal machine Robbie Fowler.

Kicking off

Taekwondo, from 09:00

The taekwondo competition starts with the women's and men's lightweight events. London 2012 bronze medallist Lucija Zaninovic of Croatia - one of two identical twins competing in Taekwondo at Baku 2015 - kicks off the action in the -49kg category.

Alexandri the great

Synchronised swimming, 10:00

Anisiya Neborako of Russia is the hot favourite in the synchro solo event, but Austrian Anna-Maria Alexandri will also be chasing her second medal of the competition. After being the only non-Russian to make the top-10 in the figures, the triplet will be hoping to catch up with the solo routine scores of Spanish rival Berta Ferreras Sanz for another chance at silver.

Second's best

Water polo, 10:30

The women's water polo match-up between the Netherlands and Germany will determine who finishes second and third respectively in Group A behind Hungary. The winner will play the third place finisher in Group B in the quarter-finals on Wednesday while the losers plays the second place team in Group B. The Dutch will look to sharp shooter Kitty Lynn Joustta to lead them.
