Foreign direct investment in Azerbaijan rose by almost 18 percent in the first nine months of 2014 year-on-year to 3.5 billion manat ($4.5 billion), the State Statistics Committee said.
Investors from the UK, Norway, Turkey, the USA, France and Japan provided a combined 80 percent of the total.
The UK maintained its position as the single largest foreign investor in Azerbaijan with 32.2 percent. It was followed by Norway with 18.2 percent and Turkey with 8.8 percent.
British energy giant BP leads Azerbaijan’s largest energy projects, including the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and Shah Deniz developments. Partners in the projects include Norwegian, Turkish and US companies.
