GNN: Azerbaijan closed issue of Armenian separatism on its territory in September 2023

The events of September 2023 in the Karabakh region became a turning point, they allowed Azerbaijan to close the issue of Armenian separatism on its territory, reads an article published on the French news website Global News Network (GNN).

"The 44-day Second Karabakh War in 2020, which began as a result of another Armenian military provocation, significantly shifted the balance of power in the region and led to a new geopolitical reality. Azerbaijan was able to restore its territorial integrity by returning previously occupied lands to control. And the September 2023 events in Karabakh became a turning point in the history of the conflict. Azerbaijan has effectively completed its multi-year process of regaining control over Karabakh. Having closed the issue of Armenian separatism on its territory, Azerbaijan has taken a big step towards normalizing relations with Armenia and signing a peace treaty," the article says.

The publication points out that on September 19-20, 2023, Azerbaijan carried out local anti-terrorist measures in Karabakh in order to restore constitutional order and stop the activities of illegal Armenian armed groups on its territory: "These measures were aimed at eliminating terrorist elements and ensuring control over the territory, which, according to international law, belongs to Azerbaijan."

The authors emphasize that Azerbaijan independently completed the process of restoring territorial integrity and sovereignty. At the same time, the publication notes that the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group, created in 1992 under the co-chairmanship of Russia, the US and France, to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict have not yielded any results.
