The U.S. Dow Jones stock index fell by 4.15% to 23,860.46 points, S&P 500 by 3.75% to 2,581.00 points and NASDAQ by 3.90% to 6,777.16 points.
 
In the European stock markets, FTSE 100 index decreased by 1.49% to 7,170.69 points, Germany’s DAX by 2.62% to 12,260.29, French CAC 40 by 1.98% to 5,151.68, APA-Economics reported.
 
At the latest COMEX auctions, gold prices ascended $0.30 to $1,319.30 an ounce and silver prices decreased by $0.01 to $16.24.
