Greece welcomes joint statement of Azerbaijan and Armenia

Greece supports efforts to achieve lasting peace in the South Caucasus region, country's Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis said in a phone call with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan.

Gerapetritis said he welcomed the joint statement of the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides who announced the mutual release of military personnel, as well as confidence-building measures.

He also informed Mirzoyan about the results of the meeting of the High Cooperation Council of Greece and Türkiye held on Thursday in Athens.

In turn, the Armenian foreign minister welcomed the progress in Greek-Turkish relations.

Mirzoyan invited the Greek minister to visit Yerevan, Gerapetritis accepted the invitation, saying that the visit would be planned through diplomatic channels.
