Hamas has received a proposal for a truce in the Gaza Strip, said the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniya, reported from Russian media.

Haniya noted that the Hamas leadership will study the proposal and give its response.

"Hamas is open to discussing serious and practical initiatives or ideas, as long as they are aimed at a comprehensive end to aggression," he said.

Earlier it was reported that Israel, the United States, Egypt and Qatar agreed in Paris on a new deal for the phased release of hostages in the Gaza Strip. The new deal includes a phased release of the remaining American and Israeli hostages, starting with women and children, along with gradual pauses in fighting and aid supplies to the Gaza Strip, as well as the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.
