Health Ministry: There's no measles in Azerbaijan

As a result of large-scale preventive measures conducted in Azerbaijan, since 2013 there has not been a single case of measles registered in the country, informs the press-service of the Ministry of Health.

In 2018, in many European countries, including Georgia, next to Azerbaijan, there were frequent cases of measles.

At the end of 2018, individual cases of measles were reported in Azerbaijan. The disease mainly affects people between the ages of 20 and 40, as well as those unvaccinated with the measles vaccine.

In order to prevent the spread of the disease in the country, the Ministry of Health is taking measures to fully cover vaccination of children. All suspicious cases will be carefully examined.

In addition, for those not vaccinated for any reason, in the near future additional vaccinations will be provided. To this end, the ministry will purchase 160,000 doses of vaccines.

At present, the Ministry of Health keeps the epidemiological situation on measles under control.

Recall that on the eve of the Russian media reported on the measles epidemic in the Vladimir region. According to preliminary information, the virus got into the region from Azerbaijan, where the sick child came from.
