The Azerbaijani film director Shamil Aliyev's Hermit movie was included in the long list of the U.S. Film Academy in the nomination Best Foreign Film for the Oscar award.Shamil Aliyev is known as the director of the movies Witness Girl, Shirbala’s Love, Confession, Strange Time, Chance Meeting, and Archaic Motives. The latest one of his films, Hermit, participated in a number of film festivals in Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Estonia, Egypt, Georgia and Turkey.It should be noted that this film is not the first candidate for Oscar from Azerbaijan. So far, the Caucasian, Castle, Area and Buta films were known as claiming for the award.The National Oscar Committee of Azerbaijan: "We did not submit Hermit to the Oscar long list”A member of the National Oscar Committee of Azerbaijan, Ali Isa Jabbarov told ANN.Az that, according to the rules, on the basis of voting the National Oscar Committee submits movies to the Oscar award: "So far, the Caucasian, Castle, Area and Buta films were included in the Oscar list as a result of the committee's vote. Interestingly, this list does not include the film Hermit.”According to the National Committee member, we are in the middle of a dispute, because the Hermit was not submitted to the award by the national committee. "Either a committee was formed parallel to it, secretly or the movie director presented it himself. And want to underscore that the second option is technically not possible.”According to Jabbarov, the Hermit was put on the vote at the National Committee for Oscar last year, but was not voted for: "Nevertheless, the foreigners were not aware of the violation of the rules of procedure.”According to the Committee member, the appearance of the film’s name in the long list is itself a good event: "However, it seems to me, Shamil had better explain to the Oscar committee, how and by whom it was presented there. I wish him good luck.”In his talk with ANN.Az Shamil Aliyev did not want to clarify the matter.The National Oscar Committee is an independent agency and in every country it can be established and vote for movies to submit to Oscar Movie Academy.The National Oscar Committee is headed by Rustam Ibrahimbekov. There are 12 members of the organization. It includes official and non-official members of the Union of Cinematographers (Shafiga Mammadova, Jamil Guliyev, Fuad Poladov, Ali Isa Jabbarov, Mehriban Zaki, Teymur Abdullayev, Rahman Hajiyev, and Farid Humbetov). RabigaANN.Az
