Hungary joins NATO coalition to clear mines in Ukraine

Hungary has joined a coalition of 20 member countries of NATO that will undertake mine clearance in Ukraine, Hungarian Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky wrote on his Facebook page.

The NATO meeting was held in Brussels on February 15. During the meeting, an agreement was signed on the creation of the Mine Action Coalition.

"One of the most urgent tasks in Ukraine, which affects the daily lives of the population is demining. Hungary - on the sidelines of the ministerial level meeting in Brussels - signed a Statement of Intent with 20 other NATO member states on the establishment of the Mine Action Coalition.

The Hungarian National Defense contributes to the activities of the Lithuanian-led coalition with mine removal training,” he wrote.
