The sister of one of three women allegedly held as slaves for 35 years has described how her tears were met with stony indifference when the pair were reunited.Kamar Mahtum said her sister, Aishah Wahab, refused to leave London as there were ‘people who needed her’ and ‘work to do still’.And she said the 69-year-old refused to give anything away about her alleged enslavement. ‘She never encroached into her mysterious life,’ said Ms Mahtum. ‘She never told me where she lived or how she survived. She said, “There are people here who need me more than my family,” and then I was quite hurt by that.‘And she kept on saying, “I have work to do still.” I didn’t ask her what the work is. There were things she was not eager to tell me.’Ms Mahtum told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme her sister disowned their family in Malaysia in 1968 and ‘disappeared’ to London. She claimed to have ‘sobbed’ when they were reunited but said her sister was ‘rather composed’.Ms Wahab and the other alleged victims – a 30-year-old Briton and a 57-year-old Irish woman – were part of a ‘collective’ with a shared political ideology, police believe.Aravindan Balakrishnan and wife Chanda, both 67, have been arrested in connection with the investigation.(metro.co.uk)ANN.Az
