'Last year, 118,000 new jobs were created in Azerbaijan. This is a good number. The process of creating jobs should be permanent, and the private sector should play a major role in this area,' Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at a conference on the results of the implementation of the State Program on the socio-economic development of Azerbaijani regions in 2014-2018, Azerbaijan State News Agency informs.
'Increasing employment is a very serious matter. The population of some countries is not growing, of some is decreasing. And the population of Azerbaijan is growing. I have already noted that over the past 15 years, the population of Azerbaijan has increased by 1.6 million people. And this requires very serious work from us. Once again I want to say that the increase in jobs is one of the priority issues. In those regions where there was unemployment, we
organised social work to combat it. This initiative has been implemented for several years now and thousands of people work in these public works and receive wages,' said the head of state.
The president also noted that in recent years many enterprises have been created, where jobs are being opened.
