Azerbaijani Society of America (ASA) says that as a result of the annual Pax Turcica campaign, the General Assembly of the U.S. State of Indiana issued a statement, recognizing May 28 2015 as Azerbaijani National Day. The statement signed by Indiana State Representative Sheila Klinker supports Azerbaijan's sovereignty over the Karabakh region and recognizes ASA as the oldest grassroots organization of Azerbaijani-Americans established by the descendants of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. This is the second high-level recognition obtained by the Azerbaijani American community in Indiana. In 2009, ASA achieved a similar recognition of Azerbaijani National Day from the City of Bloomington, Indiana.
