The Russian Federation Council Committee on International Affairs has completed consultations on the candidacy of Sergei Lavrov for the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, reported from TASS.

After the consultations, the head of the committee, Grigory Karasin, said that they were very active, the senators’ questions concerned "the widest range of international activities of the Russian Federation.”

There will be no open assessments based on the results of the consultations; the entire content will be presented in an information letter, which will be sent to the President of the Russian Federation along with the chamber’s resolution.

Consultations with the participation of the candidate will continue at the plenary meeting of the Federation Council on May 14.
