As the world is left bereft of fast-tapping, pipe jumping action following the death of Flappy Bird, iPhones with the game still installed have popped up on eBay and are selling for thousands.

The immensely popular side-scrolling game, which has been downloaded more than 50 million times, was pulled from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store after its Vietnam-based creator, Dong Nguyen, said the fame it had brought him 'ruins my simple life'.Ebay sellers were quick to cash-in on Flappy Bird addiction however, immediately listing hundreds of iPhones and other devices with the game still playable, with one rocketing up to an eye-watering $80,500 (about £50,000).The linear game sees users navigate a system of tubes of varying heights by flapping a bird's wings - that is literally the extent of the gameplay and there is no second half to this sentence.Despite having earned him as much as $50,000 a day from advertising revenue, Nguyen decided to pull the game at the end of last week, posting on his @dongatory Twitter account: "I am sorry 'Flappy Bird' users, 22 hours from now, I will take 'Flappy Bird' down. I cannot take this anymore."It is not anything related to legal issues. I just cannot keep it anymore," he added, having pleaded earlier in the week: "Press people are overrating the success of my games. It is something I never want. Please give me peace."Launched in May 2013, the notoriously difficult Flappy Bird took Nguyen just two or three days to make and has spawned a number of similar titles including 'Happy Bird' and 'Fly Birdie'.(independent.co.uk)ANN.Az
