Long queues of trucks haveformed on Azerbaijan’s border with Iran after the Iranian authorities deniedentry to vehicles weighing over 30 tons.
More than 100 trucks arewaiting outside the Bilasuvar customs checkpoint for permission to enter Iran whiletrucks have formed a two-kilometer line at the Culfa border crossing inAzerbaijan’s autonomous region of Naxcivan.
Many drivers have returnedhome, leaving their trucks at the border crossings, APA said.
Iran imposed restrictionsafter Azerbaijan briefly closed the Shahtakhti crossing following a shootingincident.
The Iranian ambassador inBaku, Mohsen Pak Ayen, has said the Culfa bridge over the Araz river is old andcan no longer take vehicles weighing over 30 tons. Ayen said a new bridge needsto be built over the river.
