Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi said his country’s relations with Azerbaijan will not be affected by “minor” problems that have emerged at the two countries’ border in recent weeks.
In an interview with the Baku-based Trend news agency on Nov. 25, Araqchi said: "We welcome visits to Iran by our Azerbaijani brothers and sisters, as well as visits to Azerbaijan by Iranian nationals.”
Building brotherly relations with Azerbaijan is one of Iran's foreign policy priorities, he said.
"We want to develop ties further,” Araqchi said.
Iran is extremely interested in holding a meeting of the joint economic commission in Baku, Araqchi added."We hope that this commission will meet during Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s visit to Baku," he said.
