15.04.2024 14:31
The Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran will resume work in the near future, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said at a briefing, reported from ISNA.

He noted that Baku and Tehran have reached an agreement on resuming the work of the diplomatic mission.

The ministry spokesperson also noted that Iran is ready to appoint a new ambassador to Baku, since the term of office of Ambassador Seyed Abbas Mousavi has expired.

On January 7, 2023, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran was stormed by an armed man. The attacker with a Kalashnikov assault rifle in his hands broke through the security post and killed the head of the security service, Orkhan Asgarov. Two embassy security officers were injured while preventing the attack. After the terror attack, the activities of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran were suspended, and diplomats were evacuated from Iran.
