Japan's FM pledges continued support for Ukraine at G7 meeting

Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko has pledged that Japan will continue its support for Ukraine while imposing strict sanctions on Russia. The Group of Seven foreign ministers held a session on Ukraine on Thursday on the southern Italian island of Capri, reported from NHK World Japan.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also took part in the meeting.

Kamikawa said Japan is dealing with the issue with a strong sense of crisis that Ukraine today may be East Asia tomorrow.
She stressed Japan's unwavering stance to stand with Ukraine.
Kuleba told the session that Ukraine's infrastructure has sustained serious damage from attacks by Russian forces. He called for increased support to bolster the country's air defense systems.
The Japanese foreign minister said her country has provided Ukraine with a drone detection system by contributing 37 million dollars to a NATO fund.
The foreign ministers agreed that the G7 members will continue to work toward the goal of realizing a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
