Russia cancels Azerbaijani Russian Drama Theatre tour

Performances by the Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theatre, scheduled under Russia’s “Big Tours” cultural program, have been cancelled, according to local cultural institutions and media.

The Novosibirsk-based Globus Theatre announced the cancellation of two shows: Monsieur Jordan the Botanist and Dervish Mastalishah the Famous Sorcerer, which was set for September 28, and Hamlet, scheduled for September 29.

No official reason has been provided for the cancellation. Organizers have yet to comment.

The Azerbaijani theatre has previously taken part in the touring program and performed successfully across Russian stages.
