Will Hour of the Wolf see Elnur Huseynov join song contest winners?

They finally topped the Eurovision table in 2011 with Ell & Nikki's Running Scared - which made the two singers national stars and heroes for bringing the trophy home.

Though winning did come with a cost as the country spent more money than any other ever on hosting the event the year after. According to one breakdown of Government spending on issues related to the event, it estimates Azerbaijan spent a mammoth £433 million - so Eurovision is very big business there.

Now it's so much so that they're selecting a former contestant to represent them in Elnur Huseynov, who previously reached eighth place in the competition in 2008 as part of duo Elnur and Samir.

Though as it is the Eurovision Song Contest, this is all about the music, so will Elnur Huseynov's Hour of the Wolf be enough to get Europe voting for him?

Hour of the Wolf sounds like a really exciting song. It isn't.

I was hoping for some kind of high-energy Hungry Like the Wolf style brilliance from Azerbaijan, but instead I get a low-energy hit.

I'm sure it'll do really well, it deserves to, but by Oprah, I'm bored of it. In fact there have been far too many boring songs at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

It's as if Europe's in collective mourning for something or other, maybe the Euro, maybe for the common market, maybe it's Maybelline.

Elnur sings well but I'm not sure his voice is enough to carry Azerbaijan to a new victory.

The first Eurovision Song Contest 2015 semi-final will take place on Tuesday 19 May, followed by the second on Thursday 21 May - the winners will then perform at the Grand Final on Saturday 23 May, which will be broadcast on BBC One.
