Media: Energy crisis caused by Ukraine war drew Italy's attention to Azerbaijan

The energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine has prompted Italy to focus on importing liquefied natural gas from Norway, Azerbaijan, and Algeria and then turning it into usable gas.

Snam company is responsible for the natural gas transformation process. The company bought the Golar Tundra tanker for 330 million euros, which will re-inject liquefied gas into the tanks of the gasification terminal upon the approval of the government.

The vessel, which left the Keppel shipyard in Singapore on February 21 last year, headed to the port of Piombino. Its annual regasification capacity will be about five billion cubic meters of gas.

The project will help to overcome the energy crisis and free Italy from the monopoly of Russian supplies.
