Media learn details of Erdogan's and Kilicdaroglu's campaigns in runoff election

In preparation for the second round of the presidential elections on May 28, incumbent Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will focus on television programs and visits to the regions, while his rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu intends to reach supporters with a stronger social program and emphasize his intention to fight terrorism resolutely, reported from Hürriyet newspaper.

"The details of President Erdogan’s 10-day campaign in the second round of elections have become clear. According to the information received, the president is scheduled to focus on television programs and visit the area of the devastating February earthquakes. It also became known that President Erdogan instructed all organizations of the ruling Justice Party and Development (AK Parti) to be on the ground during this process and warned its staff, saying, ‘Do not relax!’,” writes the newspaper.

As for his opponent, instead of intensive rally programs, preference will be given to strategically important places, taking into account the results of the first round. Kilicdaroglu also plans to visit the earthquake zone.

The publication notes that the current mayors of Istanbul and Ankara, Ekrem Imamoglu and Mansur Yavas, who, if Kilicdaroglu wins, can become vice presidents, will take an active part in the campaign.

The May 16 meeting of the opposition bloc, which also discussed the strategy for the first round, reportedly brought to the fore assessments that the opposition had failed to adequately defend itself against government propaganda, according to which the opposition was allegedly closely linked to the PKK.

Parliamentary and presidential elections were held in Türkiye on May 14. On May 15, Türkiye’s High Electoral Commission officially announced the second round of presidential elections to be held on May 28. According to the CEC, Erdogan received 49.51% of the vote, his rival Kilicdaroglu got 44.88%.
