Azerbaijan to increase defense spending next year

Azerbaijan will increase its military spending 4.4 percent next year to 1.84 billion manat, according to a budget draft published on the Finance Ministry website.

The government will allocate 18.3 percent of the total budget spending to meet defense and security needs, according to the draft. 

Budget revenue is expected to reach 14.56 billion manats, while expenditure is projected at 16.26 billion manats.

Budget deficit for 2016 is forecast at 1.698 billion manats, or 2.9 percent of GDP.
