Miller says Putin's gift to Kim Jong Un violates UN SC resolutions

The US government believes that Putin's gift to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is allegedly contrary to the UN sanctions.

Reported from foreign media that US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said the gift was a violation of provisions of international sanctions put on North Korea.

"UN Security Council resolutions do require all UN member states to prohibit both the supply of transportation vehicles and the supply of luxury automobiles to the DPRK. And if this is true, it would appear to be once again Russia violating UN Security Council resolutions that it itself supported.

North Korean state media said on Tuesday that Kim was "presented with a car made in Russia for his personal use by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the Russian Federation.”

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov later confirmed the gift, saying it was an Aurus, a full-sized luxury sedan of the type used by Putin.
