The settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is a key priority for the European Union, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini said at a briefing in Yerevan.
The status quo can not be maintained and there is no military solution to the conflict, she said.
Mogherini stressed the importance of a peaceful settlement in accordance with international law and on the basis of Madrid principles.
She noted the importance of continuing the dialogue at the highest level.
The tension must be reduced and the sides should refrain from military rhetoric and growth of violence, which are harmful to the peace process, Mogherini said.
