This decision was made at a government meeting, according to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.
"The period for providing temporary protection to migrants from Ukraine will be extended for another year, starting from March 1, 2024, and ending on March 1, 2025. The validity of identification documents of the recipient of temporary protection will also be automatically extended,” reads the message.
It notes that persons participating in the program have the right to financial and social assistance, the opportunity to work without obtaining temporary residence rights. Temporary protection status is one of the ways of legalization, together with the right to seek asylum or the right to obtain a residence permit in Moldova.
According to the country’s migration service, there are currently more than 116,000 refugees from Ukraine on the territory of Moldova.
