"Gerard Depardieu's Russian citizenship should be stripped off," member of the State Duma Sultan Hamzayev said, Reportinforms, citing RIA Novosti.
He offered to confiscate the French actor's real estate: "He was presented with two apartments in Saransk and Grozny (Russian cities). It is necessary to take these apartments back and give them to orphans. That would be the fairest decision." 

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the French actor does not understand what happened in Ukraine in 2014: "If necessary, we will be ready to tell him about this and explain so that he understands better."

Depardieu, who took up Russian nationality in 2013, told Agence France Presse on Thursday: "The Russian people are not responsible for the excesses of their leaders like Vladimir Putin. "
